The Fellowship was one of the most interesting experiences I have had over the summer. As an avid STEM fan and passionate scientist, it was incredible to see so much brilliance, not only from the mentors, but from my peers as well. I learned so much about creating, productivity, and more from the mentors. There’s really something for everyone. Even a quarter into the school year, I find many of the lessons helping me in unforeseen ways. The Fellowship was definitely one of the top three most influential summer programs I have ever attended in my life.

I highly recommend the Fellowship to any student interested in a STEM career. This mentorship program was an eye-opening experience that deepened my passion for STEM. The many incredible and inspiring mentors gave me insight into real-world STEM careers, many of which I had not considered, and showed me how I could make an impact. The fellowship provided me with the opportunity to explore various fields of STEM, hear from knowledgeable mentors who are successful in their field, learn about additional STEM opportunities for my age group, and more.

I’d always wondered if there was a program that could truly change the course of my future, one that offered resources, meaningful lessons I could carry forward, and the flexibility to fit my schedule. During my sophomore summer (2025), I finally found it. The Summit STEM Fellowship was a life-changing experience. It connected me with bright, like-minded students. We were also paired with mentors from top universities who guided me on how to make a genuine, positive impact through interactive, hands-on experiences - absolutely reccomend.

The fellowship achieved the impossible; making an already STEM-crazed student become even more passionate about every aspect of the field. I was given every tool I could ask for to further fuel my goals in my favorite subject of biology, and even reignited my interest for topics I thought were not for me. I had access to resources that I had never had before, and through the talks, activities, and ideathons we had every week, I felt like everything that I learned was so easily applicable to real life and importantly, well within my reach of experience as a freshman in high school.

The Summit STEM Fellowship exceeded my expectations, it was more inspiring, fulfilling, and wide-ranging than I imagined. During this program, I loved meeting so many inspiring people; from meeting Mentors in their Fireside chats, STEM Shorts, or Career panels, to meeting other fellows in Game Nights and on Ed Stem, I feel like I’ve joined a community of people both fascinated by STEM and also who have a love of learning. While some Chats covered experiences in Medical School, others were focused on anything from writing a book to the chemistry of magnets to Labor Economics.

The fellowship was one of the best summer experiences that I've ever had! What drew me to this fellowship was the idea of a supportive space where students from all over the world interested in STEM could explore their passions and learn about opportunities to make a difference. By attending the various Fireside Chats by incredible mentors in STEM, I gained much knowledge about potential fields of STEM that I could explore as well as the steps that I can take to achieve my goals, and during the Fellowship, I had many opportunities to network with other students.

Don’t be intimidated or feel overwhelmed by all the mentors and other students! I remember feeling like everyone was so accomplished and amazing, and it made me think, “Wait, what am I doing here?” But the whole point of the fellowship is to show that these mentors were once in our shoes not too long ago, and show us that we also have the potential to achieve great things. It was inspiring to realize that all the mentors were just once like us.

Luca Meyerhans
Alum from Spain
Don’t compare yourself to others and always believe in yourself. We talked a lot about that during the fellowship. It's important to be relaxed and open to new experiences, to take risks, and not just get stuck in the planning process. Focus on what you’re passionate about. I struggled to find my community at first, but once I embraced my dyslexia, I felt empowered to help others have a better experience and I truly felt like it paid off.

Sophia Zhang
Alum from Colorado, USA
My main advice would be to really make the most of your time and connect with all the other fellows! Looking back, I wish I had been more proactive in reaching out and meeting other fellows. The entire community was very kind and supportive, and it was really inspiring seeing what other students were working on. For example, I remember seeing another student post about implementing climate curriculum and raising awareness in their local community.

I would advise future fellows to get involved and network with other students, as that was one of the best things I did. I met many amazing people I can turn to for help. Staying for optional events is also important, as they offer numerous networking and learning opportunities. There are many mentors available, and taking advantage of these events can be incredibly beneficial. I really enjoyed the program; it was a great experience!

Isabella really emphasized the importance of just getting started and taking the “first step,” and my advice would be to just follow your dreams and take the first step towards achieving them! Through the fellowship, I learned that people are so willing to help. All the mentors have been so supportive, so don’t be afraid to reach out, get started on projects, and stick to your dreams! In general, everyone I’ve met who works or studies in STEM has been so kind.

Theo Nguyen
Alum from Gerogia, USA
My advice is to attend and participate in everything and apply it to your life. The fellowship taught me that each lesson is truly important and beneficial. Also, reach out to the mentors! They’re here to help and can do more than you think. Be proactive in utilizing the resources you have. This community is very supportive, so you should embrace that as much as you can and it will pay off. Even the unexpected can support you in ways unimaginable.

It's important to be relaxed and open to new experiences, to take risks, and not just get stuck in the planning process. Focus on what you’re passionate about. I struggled to find my community at first, but once I embraced my dyslexia, I felt empowered to help others have a better experience and I truly felt like it paid off.
