Coming from Nigeria, the fellowship gave me a rare opportunity to connect with mentors from top universities, like Harvard, Stanford, and MIT. The career panel answered a lot of questions that confused me, and the weekly reflections and deliverables helped me process everything I learned. The mentors’ genuine support during office hours, personalized feedback, and inclusivity made it a fun, and inspiring experience. I’m proud to say I am no longer the person I was before the program; the fellowship has motivated me to see STEM in a whole new light.

The Summit STEM Fellowship exceeded my expectations, it was more inspiring, fulfilling, and wide-ranging than I imagined. During this program, I loved meeting so many inspiring people; from meeting Mentors in their Fireside chats, STEM Shorts, or Career panels, to meeting other fellows in Game Nights and on Ed Stem, I feel like I’ve joined a community of people both fascinated by STEM and also who have a love of learning. While some Chats covered experiences in Medical School, others were focused on anything from writing a book to the chemistry of magnets to Labor Economics.

Through SRS, I gained substantial knowledge through the numerous lectures and activities across both courses. I applied this new information to the development of a research capstone at the end of the program, through which I was able to explore specific topics of personal academic interest. The program was demanding and significantly strengthened my research and technical skills. I gained an incredible amount of knowledge in a short period of time, and the experience has had a profound impact on my academic development and future in research.

I truly loved being part of the Summit Research Scholars program and am so grateful for the care and intention that went into every aspect of it. From the structure to the content to the way it was facilitated, it was clear how much thought and effort the organizers put into creating a meaningful experience. I felt engaged throughout and genuinely looked forward to each session. I loved learning, connecting, and building on what we started. Thank you for creating such a thoughtful and enriching program; it was truly a pleasure to be part of it.

Being part of the Summit STEM Fellowship has given me the chance to connect my curiosity in both the sciences and the humanities. I love exploring how the mind works, whether through life reflections or philosophy articles, and I enjoy finding creative ways to share those ideas through discussion with peers. The mentors in the fellowship have shown me that linking all of my interests is both possible and practical; I will definitely adopt this mindset in the future and study as many interesting fields as possible in college.

SRS taught me that there are multiple ways to carry out research and that no question or observation is too small or insignificant to investigate. Overall, I especially appreciated the variety of resources offered, the flexibility of the schedule, and the one-on-one opportunities to connect with mentors, teaching assistants, and peers. It was a truly unique experience, and I’m excited to apply the skills I gained sooner rather than later. It has been my first highlight starting the new year.

Precious Ojo

Coming from Nigeria, the fellowship gave me a rare opportunity to connect with mentors from top universities, like Harvard, Stanford, and MIT. The career panel answered a lot of questions that confused me, and the weekly reflections and deliverables helped me process everything I learned. The mentors’ genuine support during office hours, personalized feedback, and inclusivity made it a fun, and inspiring experience. I’m proud to say I am no longer the person I was before the program; the fellowship has motivated me to see STEM in a whole new light.

Lev Corliss
California, USA
The Summit STEM Fellowship exceeded my expectations, it was more inspiring, fulfilling, and wide-ranging than I imagined. During this program, I loved meeting so many inspiring people; from meeting Mentors in their Fireside chats, STEM Shorts, or Career panels, to meeting other fellows in Game Nights and on Ed Stem, I feel like I’ve joined a community of people both fascinated by STEM and also who have a love of learning. While some Chats covered experiences in Medical School, others were focused on anything from writing a book to the chemistry of magnets to Labor Economics.

Taylor Stocker
Pennsylvania, USA
Through SRS, I gained substantial knowledge through the numerous lectures and activities across both courses. I applied this new information to the development of a research capstone at the end of the program, through which I was able to explore specific topics of personal academic interest. The program was demanding and significantly strengthened my research and technical skills. I gained an incredible amount of knowledge in a short period of time, and the experience has had a profound impact on my academic development and future in research.

Rana Amira Abdou

I truly loved being part of the Summit Research Scholars program and am so grateful for the care and intention that went into every aspect of it. From the structure to the content to the way it was facilitated, it was clear how much thought and effort the organizers put into creating a meaningful experience. I felt engaged throughout and genuinely looked forward to each session. I loved learning, connecting, and building on what we started. Thank you for creating such a thoughtful and enriching program; it was truly a pleasure to be part of it.

Collin Wang
California, USA
Being part of the Summit STEM Fellowship has given me the chance to connect my curiosity in both the sciences and the humanities. I love exploring how the mind works, whether through life reflections or philosophy articles, and I enjoy finding creative ways to share those ideas through discussion with peers. The mentors in the fellowship have shown me that linking all of my interests is both possible and practical; I will definitely adopt this mindset in the future and study as many interesting fields as possible in college.

Alum from California, USA
One of my main regrets is not participating in the optional events as much as I could. I wish I had participated in more and would recommend getting involved in every optional event, especially the ideathons, which were a particularly fun experience for me. They really made me think about my life, my future in STEM, and how I could improve myself.

Aradhya Yadav
Alum from Nepal
The most valuable skill I learned this summer was time management! Make sure you prioritize tasks by setting realistic deadlines. This helped me a lot with developing my book and academics. You should allocate your time to align with your goals by setting clear priorities and breaking tasks into manageable steps.

Theo Nguyen
Alum from Georgia, USA
My advice is to attend and participate in everything and apply it to your life. The fellowship taught me that each lesson is truly important and beneficial. Also, reach out to the mentors! They’re here to help and can do more than you think. Be proactive in utilizing the resources you have.

Eshal Khattak
Alum from Saudi Arabia
Try to keep an open mind, even if you don’t think you’re interested in a specific field. You never know what insights you’ll gain or what you’ll learn. Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions, even the ones you think might be “dumb.” No question is truly dumb. And take notes; you never know when that information might come in handy. Overall, be as involved as possible—it makes a huge difference.

Mateus Hoerner Rocco
Alum from The Cayman Islands
My advice is to be everything you know you can be. Explore whatever is available to you and even beyond that. Once you've found what you like, you can stick to it, but never limit yourself. It’s fun to explore! For example, my interests have evolved; I've been into STEM and engineering since middle school, but the more I engage with music, the more I enjoy it, and it has become another passion.

Elena Klopfenstein
Alum from Arizona, USA
My biggest advice is to really take all the lessons you learn to heart, and to continue applying the things you learn even after the program. Everyone is there to help you, and the fellowship provides you with a ton of resources to be successful, so make the most of it. Do as many activities as you can, focus on what interests you, and remember—you’ll get as much out of it as you put in.
